Howard Marcus Memorial Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Wharf To Wharf Race
Since 1989 the Howard Marcus Memorial Scholarship has honored two graduating seniors — one male and one female — who have shown exceptional achievement in running during their high school careers.
About Howard Marcus
Howard Marcus was a devoted family man, attorney, author, basketball coach, and an enthusiastic supporter of youth track and field. He served for many years on the Wharf to Wharf Race organizing committee. In 1983 he founded the Star Track Club, which later evolved into today’s Santa Cruz Track Club, and he played a leading role in making Santa Cruz County’s first all‑weather track a reality at Soquel High School in 1986.
