Futurama Foundation Scholarships

The Futurama Foundation annually awards a set of scholarships to Maine women who demonstrate financial need. The Scholarship Period opens January 1st of each year. Each award for this year is $3,000.
Available scholarships
- The Lemieux-Lovejoy Youth Scholarship
- For a female high school senior who has been accepted to an accredited college or university.
- The Jeanne L. Hammond Memorial Scholarship
- Open to any woman in Maine who is a recent high school graduate or a career-minded individual planning to continue her education.
- The Continuing Education Scholarship
- For a woman who has been matriculated for at least one year in a college or other educational program.
- The Career Advancement Scholarship
- For a woman who is at least thirty years of age and is continuing or returning to higher education or training, either full- or part-time.
Two additional, targeted awards are also given each year
- The Kennebec Savings Bank Scholarship
- For a female resident of Kennebec County enrolled in a post-secondary program. No separate application is required; the scholarship committee selects the recipient from Kennebec County applicants to any of the four scholarships listed above.
- The BPW/University of Maine at Augusta Scholarship
- For a single female parent enrolled at the University of Maine at Augusta. No separate application is required; UMA’s scholarship committee selects the recipient.
Eligibility criteria
The applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Maine resident who will graduate or has graduated from high school and who will enroll as a freshman in an accredited college or post-secondary institution this year.
- Demonstrate financial need that would affect completion of the chosen educational program.
- Have realistic educational and career goals aligned with the planned studies.
Application requirements
The following items must accompany the application:
- A completed application form, including the statement of financial need completed by a Financial Aid Official or a Guidance Counselor.
- Official transcript(s) from all schools or colleges attended.
- Written verification of acceptance from the college or school.
- Two letters of recommendation relevant to the application (from school officials, teachers, employers, or other non-related individuals).
- A hand-signed personal statement by the applicant describing educational, personal, and career goals. Electronic signatures are not accepted.
