Maine 4-H Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Maine 4-H Foundation
Deadline for Submission: The county 4-H office must receive all applications by the first working day of March. The Foundation Office should receive approved applications from the County 4-H Staff by the 10th of March each year.
Who Can Apply: The eligible applicant should be: 1) an active 4-H member (enrolled by December 31) and 2) a high school graduate or a senior who has postponed college for a maximum of one year. Applicants can only apply in the spring before they start college.
Scholarship Distribution: The Maine 4-H Foundation grants scholarships for post-secondary education in the early summer annually. The scholarships are based on a mix of academic achievement and 4-H involvement. The focus is on your 4-H experiences, leadership, and service. Only applicants from Maine will receive scholarships. The Foundation's scholarships for post-secondary education include:
- Maine 4-H Foundation General Post Secondary Education Scholarships
- Wayne S. Rich Scholarship - Maine in odd numbered years
- Azure Dillon 4-H Memorial Scholarship - Maine 4-Her
- Gladys E. Conant Memorial Farm Credit of Maine Scholarship– Students currently studying at the University of Maine in the College of Natural Sciences Forestry and Agriculture (NSFA). Maine 4-Her intending to pursue their post-secondary education at a Maine institution with a goal to major in a field related to commercial farming, fishing, or forest products or in another field with the aim to work in businesses related to these industries.

- Fred Hutchinson scholarship (granted biennially)
- Lafayette Hotels, Morna Rawcliffe, Western Maine MacIntyre Scholarship, and others as they are funded annually.
- Doris Roberts, H. Lawrence, and George Lawrence Humphrey 4-H Scholarship –
- Maine 4-Her (granted biennially)
- Gene Doris Humphrey Scholarship
- Oxton Trust (Knox and Lincoln Counties)
- Oxford County Scholarship
- Jeremy Strater Washington County Scholarship
- Nancy L. Arms ’84, Chadwick C., and Barbara Arms 4-H Scholarship Fund
- Leo J. and Catherine D. Pelley 4-H Scholarship Fund
- Additional scholarships as they become available
Scholarship Reception: The Foundation requests scholarship recipients to attend its Annual Meeting scheduled in early summer to personally receive the scholarship. The scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500.
Payment Conditions: The award will be paid upon successful completion of the first semester of school. To claim the award money, recipients must send a completed first semester transcript to the 4-H Foundation Office.
