Kevin Higgins College Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by US Rugby Foundation
The US Rugby Foundation is delighted to launch the Kevin Higgins College Scholarship Program as a tribute to one of the most outstanding players ever to wear the United States Eagles jersey. Kevin “Higgy” Higgins, known for his versatile skills as a number 13, a tough 12 and his speed on the wing, was a three-time Collegiate All-American at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. While still a student, Kevin debuted in one of his 28 test match appearances against Japan in 1985. He proudly represented the USA at the first two Rugby World Cups, in Australia (1987) and England (1991), and had the honor of leading the team as captain on three occasions, showcasing his exceptional skills and leadership. Alongside this, Kevin also proudly wore the USA 7s jersey 16 times, participating thrice in the esteemed Hong Kong Sevens Tournament.
The US Rugby Foundation plans to grant up to 10 Kevin Higgins College Scholarships, each worth $1,000, to deserving high school seniors who proceed to play rugby at the college level. These independent scholarships are available to all U.S high school rugby players who plan to continue their education while maintaining their rugby careers at the college level.
