Overview
The Dorrance Scholarship is a need-based award dedicated to creating a college-going legacy among Arizona families. It provides financial support, academic assistance, and distinctive enrichment opportunities to boost persistence and prepare recipients for success in college and beyond. The scholarship is focused on Arizona students who will be the first in their families to earn a four-year degree, offering resources and practical experiences to help launch their higher-education journeys.
Eligibility
You may qualify if you meet all of the following:
- Arizona resident
- Current high school senior graduating in the current year (public, private, charter, or homeschooled)
- First-generation college student: neither parent, stepparent, nor legal guardian holds a four-year degree from any country
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (weighted or unweighted)
- Minimum standardized test score: 1110 SAT, 22 ACT, or 72 CLT
- Demonstrated financial need
- Intend to enroll at one of these campuses: ASU Tempe, NAU Flagstaff, or UA Tucson
- Willing to live in on-campus housing for your first two years of college
How to apply
The selection unfolds in three stages.
Phase I — Initial application
- Submit the online application, required verification documents, and your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS).
- Deadline: Wednesday, February 4, 2026 by 4:59 p.m. (AZ Standard Time).
Phase II — Semi-finalist materials
- Semi-finalists will be chosen and notified in February.
- Semi-finalists must complete the Phase II portion of the application, including writing samples and two letters of recommendation.
- Deadline for Phase II materials: Wednesday, March 4, 2026 by 4:59 p.m. (AZ Standard Time).
Phase III — Finalist interviews and award decisions
- Finalists are announced and invited to an in-person interview in April.
- Scholarship recipients are announced by April 30 each year.
